Stereo Microphones

Shure VP88

The VP88 is a stereo condenser microphone equally at home in the recording studio, creating outdoor recordings or in the broadcasting studio. This unit combines two condenser cartridges in a rugged housing suitable for field use.

The VP88 can operate from it's own internal 6v battery as well as via phantom power. It has three internal settings for different stereo imaging along with low-frequency roll-off.

This US manufactured microphone comes with a Y splitter cable enabling the mic to be connected to two inputs

AKG C-424

From the AKG labs, comes this unique quadrophonic microphone made up of two dual-diaphragm CK-12's. One is fixed to the main body, whilst the upper one can be freely rotated. Perfect for recording a group of musicians with a single mic or for lending spatial awareness to a drama piece. The mic comes with two stereo grouped outputs offering the choice of adding spatial effect during the recording or later in the mix.

KU 100

Neumann KU100

The KU100 is possibly the most exciting of the stereo effect microphones on offer, having the totally unique ability to provide the listener (providing they wear quality stereo headphones) an ABSOLUTE reproduction of a recording made from a specific spot with all spatial features intact. In fact to 'mix' the stereo effect of this recording post production would actually devalue the unique aural perspective that it offers the recording engineer.

This unit is made up of a simulated human head with microphones within each ear - the sounds that it picks up are guaranteed to be the same as if heard with normal human ears, accurately reproducing information regaring direction, ambience and distance. The unit uses condensor mic's and transformerless circuitry requiring internal or external phantom power.

This unit has industrial applications as well as dramatic being ideal for acoustic research

Please note that comments on the microphone information pages are opinion gathered from a variety of different sources. We would urge you to do your own research before purchasing a microphone.
