Despite its lowly price tag, no self-respecting professional studio would be without a collection of SM57's. Like the SM58 (the only real difference is the shape, internally they are pretty much identical), the 57 is equally at home on the road or in the studio. If you can only afford one microphone for your home studio - get this one! Even when you buy more microphones, you'll not get rid of your SM57..
