Using high quality audio equipment, a sound-card and professional software, recordings from a cassette can be edited and 'cleaned' via a computer and then transferred to playable CD or CDROM storage via a CD burner. We save the original recording in digital format and then carry out a number of enhancements until we have an 'optimised' copy of the recording. The optimised vrsion is then copied to disc, a copy of the original version is also kept in case there is an error an we need to go back to the original recording and start the optmisation process again.

There is no currently available method of 'ripping' sounds from an analogue recording, so the first copy must be made in real-time. This means that the first process (conversion to digital format) is usually the most time-consuming part of the operation. This is also the reason why it is not possible to do a lot of tapes very quickly and therefore we can't offer a lot of discount for bulk orders except where the 'bulk' is in the number of CD copies required rather than the number of cassettes to be transferred.

If you have a lot of tapes that need converting, we recommend having them done in quantities of no more then ten at a time, as time restrictions make it impractical to do analogue recordings in bulk.
